The IERCA is serious about helping the environment. With the installation of solar panels to provide 2.4 megawatts of energy to power the facility, the facility avoids using over 300,000 kilowatt hours per month from the energy grid. This is equivalent to powering 288,000 homes a year, which helps to reduce harmful emissions like NOx, Sox, and carbon dioxide.
The IERCA receives waste products from local sources, composts them into a high-quality compost and sells the compost for local use. This keeps truck traffic to a minimum which reduces pollution causing compounds released by diesel trucks that haul these materials.
The IERCA also uses 100% recycled water for all of its processing needs.
